It's what discriminating homeowners have been using for decks and wherever beauty
matters.
- Good-looking wood - only the higher lumber grades are permitted.
- Built-in protection against water damage.
- Long-lasting because of preservative treatment.
- Greater dimensional stability, less warping, and reduced maintenance.
Not only does Thompsonized® Wood offer a handsome product for your deck or backyard
project, it also relieves you of the time and expense necessary for an initial coating
of water repellent. Instead of spending an extra day applying a water repellent
to the surface of your deck, you can enjoy the pleasures of your new project immediately.
In many instances, once the costs of applying a coating are added in, a Thompsonized®
Wood deck is no more expensive than a deck built with cheaper lumber. Plus, you
get better looking wood with greater protection.
Thompsonized® Wood is an innovation of The Thompson's Company, the experts in waterproofing.
It is sold at The Home Depot as part of the Premium CutTM product line. It is available
in 5/4" decking, 2x6, 2x4; in lengths from 8' to 16'. (Note: some stores do not
stock all sizes.)
Because of differences in lumber species and homeowner preferences across North
America, some characteristics of Thompsonized® Wood vary from region to region.
In all cases, Thompsonized® Wood is top appearance, high grade material that is
pressure-treated with preservative and has factory-applied waterproofer.

United States - east of Rocky Mountains
For most of the country, Thompsonized® Wood is made from southern pine,
a group of strong and plentiful species that readily accept preservative. The optimum
loading of a unique waterproofer, providing unmatched moisture protection, is forced
deep into the wood - the decking is waterproofed to the core
This product carries a lifetime limited warranty against termite and rot damage,
and against failure to meet dimensional stability standards (AWPA E13).
You can complement your Thompsonized® Wood deck platform with Thompsonized®
Wood railings and deck amenities - spindles, balusters, posts, and ball tops. A
deck's railing is usually a more obvious feature than the decking, so get components
of equal quality.
- Top quality lumber for best appearance
- Waterproofed to the coreT
- Suitable for ground contact
- Best warranty available on treated wood
